Privacy Policy
Effective June 17, 2026
Pattern is built to be anonymous. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number, and we never create a personal account tied to your identity. This page explains, in plain terms, what we do and do not collect.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
- A sign-in account that identifies who you are.
What we collect
- Your answers. The opinions, preferences, and general details you choose to share when you answer questions, such as an age range, gender, or country, and the topics you respond to. They are stored without your name, attached only to a random app-generated id, and used in aggregate to produce anonymous insights and reports. Some questions touch sensitive subjects, such as political or religious views. Answering any question is always optional.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple's App Store or Google Play processes the payment, and we use RevenueCat to confirm your subscription status so we can unlock features. We never see your card details.
- App activity. Anonymous usage events, such as which screens you open or when you submit an answer, processed through Mixpanel so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. These are tied to the random app id, not to your real identity, and do not use your advertising identifier.
- Advertising identifier. If you allow tracking when asked, your device's advertising identifier may be shared with our advertising partners, Meta and Google AdMob, to measure and show more relevant ads. If you decline, it is not used for that.
How we use it
To build the anonymous patterns and reports that are the whole point of the app, to operate and improve the app, to manage subscriptions, and, only if you allow tracking, to measure advertising.
Service providers we use
We rely on a small set of providers to run Pattern, and share with each only what it needs:
- Google Firebase stores your anonymous answers and runs the app's backend.
- Mixpanel for anonymous, advertising-identifier-free usage analytics.
- Meta and Google AdMob for advertising and ad measurement, using the advertising identifier only if you allowed tracking.
- RevenueCat, with Apple and Google, to manage subscriptions.
Anything shared for insights is aggregated and anonymized. We do not build a personal profile of you, and we do not sell personal information.
Your data is anonymous
Because we do not collect identifying information, the data cannot reasonably be linked back to you as an individual.
About the insights and reports
Reports reflect only the answers of Pattern users who chose to respond. They are a snapshot of this community, not a representative survey of any country or group, and they do not prove anything as fact. Treat them as a window into what Pattern users think, not as the final word.
Deleting your profile
You can delete your profile at any time in the app, under Settings, Delete My Profile. This removes your profile and ends your session. Anonymous, aggregated responses that have already contributed to insights are retained, because they can no longer be tied to you and removing them would distort results for everyone. Deleting your profile does not cancel a subscription; you cancel that in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Children
Pattern is not intended for children. You must meet the minimum age stated in our Terms to use it.
Your choices
You can decline ad tracking when prompted and change it later in your device settings, and you can manage or cancel subscriptions in your store account.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version here with a revised date.
